
Attorney
DETAILS: The Office of Attorney General seeks an experienced attorney for a position with the Civil Division, Consumer Protection Section. This individual will litigate cases throughout the state that involve allegations of false, misleading, and deceptive trade practices. They will also enforce antitrust laws, which aim to promote competition and prevent monopolies and anticompetitive practices. Our attorneys practice in both state and federal courts, initiate criminal and civil proceedings, and participate in multi-jurisdictional actions with other state and federal law enforcement agencies. The person eligible for this position must be able to communicate well to clients and the courts, have strong legal advocacy skills, and the ability to lead others to accomplish the goals of the office.
OFFICE LOCATION: This preferred duty station for this position is in Pierre, SD.
STARTING SALARY: Salary is dependent upon experience and funding availability. This position is offered at an Attorney II level with a salary between $95,000 to $110,000 annually. The State of South Dakota has an excellent benefit package including retirement, employee insurance coverage, and paid leave.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a JD degree, be licensed to practice law in South Dakota, and have three or more years of legal experience.
