Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Family Law Paralegal to serve as a key operational and support partner to our family law attorneys. This role blends substantive legal drafting, client communication, case management, discovery coordination, trial preparation, and high-level matter organization. The ideal candidate will operate with a high degree of independence, organization, and technical skill, helping move family law matters forward while delivering a high-quality client experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Service & Matter Coordination
    • Assist with client intakes including conflict checks, information gathering, scheduling, and matter setup.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for family law clients regarding scheduling, document requests, and next steps.
    • Maintain proactive communication with clients to gather outstanding information, coordinate follow-up, and help ensure matters move forward.
    • Coordinate attorney meetings, mediations, hearings, depositions, and other case-related appointments.
  • Family Law Drafting & Document Preparation
    • Prepare initial drafts and revisions of family law documents under attorney supervision, including:
      • Summons and Petitions
      • Answers and Counterclaims
      • Motions and Notices
      • Affidavits
      • Financial declarations and disclosures
      • Parenting plans
      • Settlement agreements and stipulations
      • Proposed orders and judgments
      • Correspondence
    • Review family law documents for accuracy, consistency, formatting, dates, supporting documentation, and filing requirements.
    • Prepare hearing notebooks, exhibit binders, and filing packets.
  • Discovery & Financial Documentation
    • Assist with drafting discovery requests and responses under attorney supervision.
    • Coordinate collection and organization of financial records, tax returns, business records, bank statements, and other supporting documentation.
    • Organize discovery materials, document productions, and financial exhibits.
    • Monitor discovery deadlines and assist in preparing materials for hearings, settlement conferences, and trial.
  • Case Management & Litigation Support
    • Assist with preparation for hearings, mediations, trials, and other court proceedings.
    • Coordinate service of process, subpoenas, and court filings.
    • Prepare exhibit notebooks, witness materials, and organized case files for attorney review.
    • Monitor court deadlines and assist in maintaining progress on active family law matters.
  • Matter Organization & Workflow Coordination
    • Maintain highly organized digital matter files within Clio with consistent naming, document organization, and matter progression.
    • Monitor deadlines, internal action items, and matter status to proactively keep cases moving forward.
    • Prepare organized working files, summaries, and materials for attorney meetings and client conferences.
    • Anticipate attorney needs and assist in prioritizing workflow across active matters.
  • Administrative Support
    • Assist with engagement letters, fee agreements, closing correspondence, and matter completion workflows.
    • Coordinate with courts, mediators, guardians ad litem, custody evaluators, financial professionals, and other third parties as needed.
    • Assist with updates to templates, checklists, systems, and workflows to support continued growth and efficiency within the family law practice.
    • Support educational seminars, client resources, and other family law initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • 4+ years of paralegal experience, family law or civil litigation experience preferred.
  • Strong drafting, proofreading, and document management skills.
  • Experience supporting attorneys with scheduling, organization, and workflow coordination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and client-service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and operate effectively in a hybrid environment while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Clio or similar tools preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple attorneys, associates, and staff.
