Salary: $75,000–$85,000 annually, depending on experience

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate attorney to provide civil legal services to survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner domestic violence throughout Western South Dakota.

This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in survivors' lives while working in an independent, professional environment. The attorney will manage their own caseload, exercise independent legal judgment, and collaborate with victim advocates and community partners to provide trauma-informed legal assistance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide civil legal consultation, advocacy, and representation to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
• Represent clients in protection order proceedings, family law matters, and other eligible civil legal matters.
• Independently manage legal cases, conduct research, and prepare legal documents.
• Collaborate with advocates and community partners to support survivor safety and access to justice.
• Maintain accurate case documentation and comply with applicable grant requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in South Dakota and membership in good standing with the State Bar of South Dakota.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience practicing law.
• Ability to independently manage legal cases and exercise sound professional judgment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience representing survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault strongly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary: $75,000–$85,000, depending on experience.
